Love the mobile app and VIN decoder!

Wow, Shopmonkey has made our shop so much better! The mobile app for technicians is fantastic; my guys love doing digital inspections on their tablets. And the VIN decoder? It's so fast, saves us a ton of time on every vehicle. I definitely will shop again with them when we open our second location. Great product!

Good value with annual plan

As a first-time buyer, I was looking for the best deal on shop management software. I got a discount for choosing the annual billing option on Shopmonkey, which made the overall cost much more manageable for my budget. The estimates and quotes feature is robust, and the inventory management has helped me keep better track of parts. It felt like a worthwhile investment for the features provided, especially with the saving I got up front. I'd recommend looking into their annual plans.

Solid features, minor improvements needed

I signed up for Shopmonkey's shop management software after comparing a few options. The digital vehicle inspections are really useful, and the customer communication tools have definitely streamlined things for us. I appreciate the QuickBooks integration too; it saves a lot of time. However, setting it up wasn't as quick as I hoped, and some of the reporting features could be more customizable. It's a solid platform for the price, but there's room to polish a few rough edges.

Software works, good support

I used Shopmonkey for my shop management. The software worked well for invoicing and scheduling. Had a small question, support got back to me fast. Simple to use overall. No complaints.

Thinking of moving my small garage to Shopmonkey. Currently using pen and paper (don't laugh!). How long does setup usually take for a single-person shop?

K Karan88 1 week ago ✓ Best Answer
For a one-man shop, you might not even need all the advanced features right away. Focus on getting your basic workflow digitized. You can expand later. Took me maybe 3-4 days to get basic estimates and invoicing running smoothly.

V VijayP 1 week ago
That sounds more manageable. Thanks for the realistic timeline!

S SaritaG 1 week ago
Did you use their QuickBooks integration from the start?
3
A AnjaliK 1 week ago
Honestly, if you're coming from pen and paper, it'll feel like a lot at first. But the core setup for estimates and invoicing can be done in a day or two. Getting all your services and parts inventoried takes longer.

They have onboarding support, right? Does that help speed things up?
6
V VijayP 1 week ago
Yeah, the inventory is what I'm dreading. So many small parts.

I switched from an old, clunky system and it took me about a week to really feel comfortable. But I wasn't using all the features at once. Just started with work orders and customer communication.

That's good advice, maybe I'll just focus on the essentials first.

Thinking of switching to Shopmonkey. How's the setup process?

A AnjaliMehta 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
They offer an onboarding fee waiver sometimes, which helps with the cost, but it's still a time commitment.

Did you use their support much during setup?

shopmonkey vs tekmetric? trying to decide between the two for my new shop. what's everyone's experience?

P Priya Romero 2 months ago
I used Tekmetric for a bit before switching to Shopmonkey. SM felt a lot more intuitive for my workflow, especially the DVI stuff. Integration with QuickBooks was smoother for me too.
1
J Josh 2 months ago
Hard to say 'better' because it depends on your specific needs. I know Shopmonkey has really good parts ordering integration and multi-shop features if you ever expand. Tekmetric is solid too, but I found the customer portal on Shopmonkey to be a bit more polished.

Are there any promo codes or new user discounts going on for Shopmonkey right now? Hoping to save a bit when signing up.

D Dana L. 1 month ago
I don't think they do public promo codes much. I got a discount for paying annually though, that was a decent chunk off.
4
N Noor 1 month ago
Yeah, they usually give you custom quotes after a demo. So you gotta talk to sales. I know they have multi-shop discounts too, if that applies to you.

Just got hit with the renewal price for Shopmonkey, seems a lot higher than what I started with last year. Anyone else notice this?

S Sneha22 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
They usually have a discount for annual billing if you switch from monthly. That might bring it down a bit for you.

R Rahul87 1 month ago
Is the annual discount significant? Worth paying a lump sum?

R RaviK 1 month ago
Oh, really? I'm on monthly right now. Good to know, thanks!

Yeah, same here! I was on some intro offer I guess. They didn't really highlight the jump when I signed up. Kinda annoying.

Did you try talking to support? Sometimes they'll budge a little if you push.

I think it depends on your plan too. The basic plan jumped less than the one with all the bells and whistles.

Could be. I'm on the one with Payments and Inspections.

Can you actually use this thing well on a tablet or iPad? My techs pretty much live on tablets in the shop.

F Faith Q. 2 months ago
Absolutely. My guys use it on iPads constantly for DVI and clocking in/out of jobs. It's designed for it.

K Kate 1 month ago
It's cloud-based and has a mobile app, so yeah, works great on tablets. No issues for our techs.

Thinking about switching from Mitchell 1, but concerned about the learning curve. How long does it usually take to get Shopmonkey set up and actually start using it smoothly?

T Tom 2 months ago
We moved from Mitchell about 6 months ago. The basic setup, like getting your services and customers in, is pretty quick. Maybe a week to feel somewhat comfortable. They have onboarding too which helps a lot.
0
T Todd 1 month ago
It's cloud-based so not really an 'install'. You're up and running almost instantly for the login part. The real setup time depends on how much data you have to migrate and how deep you want to get into customizing things. I'd say give it a few weeks for full comfort, but you can do basic stuff same day.
